Will My Bag Fit? Carry-On Size Checker (All Airlines)

Type your bag’s outside measurements once. We test it against the carry-on and personal item limits of 27 airlines and show how much room you have on each side.

Measure your bag at its widest points. Most carry-on bags are 21–22.5 in tall with wheels.

How the checker works

We compare your bag to each airline’s published limit with both sorted longest side first, because a bag can be turned to fit a sizer. A bag fits when every side is within the limit, is a tight fit when any side has less than half an inch (1.3 cm) to spare, and is too big when any side is over. Airlines that state a total (length + width + height) are checked against that total.

Measure your bag yourself, with the handle down and pockets full the way you will travel. Wheels, handles and side pockets all count. Brand listings often leave the wheels out.

Data and limits

Limits come from each airline’s own baggage page and were last verified on November 7, 2026. Weight limits are not part of the size check; see the airline pages for those. Gate agents can still refuse a bag that bulges past the sizer.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my bag fits in the overhead bin?
If it meets the airline’s carry-on dimensions, including wheels and handles, it is designed to fit the bin. On full flights, late boarders may still be asked to gate-check.
Do airlines really measure carry-ons?
Budget airlines such as Frontier and Allegiant measure routinely at the gate. Major airlines spot-check, especially on full flights and in basic economy.
Should I measure in inches or centimeters?
Either. The checker converts automatically; US airlines publish in inches and most international airlines in centimeters.
