Underseat roller trade-offs

  • Wheels cost space. A roller holds less than a soft bag of the same outside size.
  • They weigh 5–6 lb empty. That matters on airlines with personal item weight limits abroad.
  • Great for carry-on-free fares. On basic economy or budget fares, a roller you can wheel through the airport is easier on your back than a full backpack.
